The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has announced the release of the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.

Patrick Areghan, the Head of Nigeria’s Office (HNO) of WAEC, revealed that out of the total 1,613,733 candidates who took the exam, the results of 262,803 candidates are currently withheld due to reported cases of examination malpractice.

The pass rate has seen an improvement, with 1,361,608 candidates (84.38%) obtaining credit and above in at least five subjects, with or without English Language or Mathematics.

1,287,920 candidates (79.81% of the total) secured credits and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
