Peace institute advises FG against granting amnesty to terrorists and bandits

In response to a reported call for amnesty by bandit leaders in North-Western states, the World Institute for Peace (WIP) has advised the Federal Government against offering amnesty to terrorists and bandits.

Speaking at the International Peace Conference, WIP’s Country Director, Lamina Omotoyosi, emphasized the importance of redirecting resources towards eliminating terrorists and bandits from the country rather than granting amnesty.

Omotoyosi stressed that for the country’s growth, the government should focus on doing what is right, disregarding the notion that some may speak out against certain actions.

Expressing concern over recent pleas and clamors for amnesty, Omotoyosi firmly advocated against the government’s consideration of such a move.

Ambassador Pradeep Sapkota, the guest speaker at the event, also emphasized the need for the government to address hunger as a fundamental step in effectively addressing insecurity.
