In the forthcoming governorship elections on November 11 in Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo states, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to deploy 11,355 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines for voter accreditation.
An undisclosed high-ranking INEC official revealed this information, emphasizing that Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo states have 2,244, 3,508, and 4,758 polling units respectively.
While the BVAS had encountered issues during the February 25, 2023 presidential and National Assembly elections, the commission later reported a 98% success rate during reviews.
The official expressed confidence that the commission would perform even better in the upcoming off-season governorship elections, with 2,400 BVAS allocated to Bayelsa, and 5,079 and 3,876 BVAS designated for Imo and Kogi respectively, aiming to exceed previous achievements.
