Bashir, the son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has made a statement claiming that the Nigerian military has the capability to capture Niger Republic’s capital, Niamey, within 13 hours.
The claim was based on a video shared on Twitter, where a user praised the army of Niger Republic.
Although El-Rufai stated that he does not wish for war, he expressed the hope that the Nigerian military would demonstrate its strength and achieve the capture of Niamey in less than 13 hours.
The tension between Nigeria and Niger Republic escalated when the military junta in Niger cut ties with Nigeria after the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) failed to reinstate the ousted President Mohamed Bazoum.
In response, Nigeria’s President and Chairman of ECOWAS, Bola Tinubu, sought the Senate’s support for potential military intervention against the military junta in Niger Republic.
