Scarcity of booklets and other challenges caused by insufficient funding – NIS Ogun chapter

During a press conference in Abeokuta as part of the 60th-anniversary celebration of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Bosede Olayemisi, the Comptroller of NIS in Ogun State, attributed the scarcity of passport booklets to the lack of adequate funding.

While acknowledging significant improvements in the service, including the transition from manual to digital processes, she emphasized that financial challenges are hindering further progress.

The NIS has successfully shifted from analogue to electronic systems, reducing the application process’s stress for passport seekers.

However, the shortage of funds poses obstacles to addressing the booklet scarcity, expanding service offices, procuring more passport production machines, and enhancing border management.

The Comptroller expressed the need for additional funding to fully develop the high-tech systems and prioritize the welfare of NIS officers.

Notwithstanding the challenges, Olayemisi assured the people of Ogun State of the NIS’s commitment to delivering efficient performance.
