Denmark implements enhanced border controls following Koran burnings

In response to security concerns arising from multiple protests where Korans were desecrated, Danish police have implemented temporary intensified border controls.

Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard stated that this measure is necessary for security reasons and will be in effect until August 10.

Sweden also implemented a similar move in response to the security situation in their country due to public desecrations of the Koran, which have sparked outrage in Muslim countries.

The governments in Denmark and Sweden, along with their intelligence authorities, have expressed concern over the situation and have faced criticism from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation for not taking immediate action.

Both countries, however, maintain their commitment to freedom of speech and assembly while exploring legal means to address the issue of desecration protests.
