In the early hours of Thursday, August 3, suspected bandits abducted two priests serving at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Gyedna, Garam Ward, Niger State.
The kidnapped clergymen have been identified as Fr. Paul Sanogo and Seminarian Melchior.
Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen fired gunshots into the air for more than an hour before taking the two priests captive.
The Catholic Bishop of Minna, Most Rev Dr. Martin Igwe Uzoukwu, has confirmed the abduction of the priests.
The incident has raised concerns about the security situation in the area and the safety of religious workers.
