Comptroller of Immigration Service in Cross River State, Emmanuel Akinrinsola, revealed that his team has successfully thwarted multiple attempts by the Ambazonia Boys in southwest Cameroon to transport weapons into or through Nigeria.
He made this disclosure during the 60th-anniversary celebration of the NIS in Calabar on August 2.
Akinrinsola emphasized that the insurgents often retreat upon realizing they cannot breach the border’s security.
The NIS Comptroller stressed that their primary role is to prevent terrorists and other illicit actors from entering the country, particularly those associated with separatist movements in Cameroon.
He highlighted the collaborative efforts of various Nigerian security agencies in stopping such infiltration attempts and enforcing international protocols that prohibit such activities.
