Justice S. M. Akanbi of the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin has delivered a verdict in the case of the murder of Olokose Ojo Olushola, who was killed a few days before his wedding in 2021.
Mohammed Kazeem Beiwa, the mastermind behind the heinous act and a neighbor of the deceased, has been sentenced to death by hanging and life imprisonment for his crimes.
Two other accomplices, Madu Jeremiah and Mohammed Chatta, received 10 years imprisonment each and a N100,000 fine on different counts.
However, the fourth defendant, Jimoh Abdulateef, was acquitted due to lack of diligent prosecution.
The accused were facing charges of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, culpable homicide, illegal possession of firearms, and illegal removal of human parts.
The prosecution presented evidence that the accused kidnapped, killed, and dismembered the victim, even negotiating for ransom from the family after his death.
The court found three of the accused guilty and delivered the verdict on Monday after hearing from nine witnesses and reviewing several exhibits during the trial.
