Ahmed El-Marzuq, the National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has resigned from his position in the party’s National Working Committee.
His resignation came after the exit of former National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, to whom El-Marzuq was believed to be an ally.
Sources at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja confirmed that he had been facing pressure following Adamu’s departure.
El-Marzuq was previously in the news when he recommended the expulsion of former National Vice Chairman for Northwest, Mallam Salihu Lukman, for taking the party and its leadership to court.
His resignation marks the fourth departure from the NWC after the exits of Adamu, Lukman, and the immediate past National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
Deputy National Organising Secretary of the APC, Nze Chidi Duru, confirmed El-Marzuq’s resignation but declined to provide further details.
