Kwara police holds peace meeting with Labor leaders ahead of planned protest

Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mrs Ebunoluwarotimi Adelesi, has called for a peaceful meeting with the leadership of various labor unions, commercial vehicle drivers, and students ahead of a planned protest in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The meeting, supported by the Director of State Services and Commandant of the NSCDC, aims to maintain peace and tranquility in the state amidst concerns about the fragile state of security in the country.

During the meeting, discussions centered on how to ensure a peaceful and rancor-free protest if it goes ahead, and the labor and student leaders expressed their readiness to cancel the protest if their national leaders direct them to do so.

The authorities have also put in place security arrangements to handle any potential repercussions from the protest.

The Commissioner of Police urged parents and guardians to counsel their children and wards against engaging in any unlawful activities during the protest.
