7,000 filling stations join autogas dispensing register in Nigeria

Around 7,000 additional filling stations across Nigeria have registered their outlets to dispense autogas, including Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) into vehicles.

Oil marketers have engaged Asian manufacturers of conversion kits to convert petrol-run vehicles to use autogas.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria had previously reported converting about 800 tankers to transport autogas to some filling stations.

Now, more stations under the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria have registered for the same purpose, with 7,000 members getting set to dispense autogas.

The President of the association, Billy Gillis-Harry, emphasized the need for government intervention and funding to facilitate vehicle conversions and reduce the country’s dependence on petrol imports.
