Lagos State Government Slashes Transportation Costs Amid Fuel Subsidy Removal, Promises Food Distribution to Vulnerable.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced that the state will reduce transportation costs of all state-owned transport systems by 50% to cushion the impact of fuel subsidy removal.

Foodstuff will be distributed to vulnerable individuals in the state. The palliatives aim to alleviate the burden caused by the subsidy removal on citizens.

The 50% discount on transportation fares will take effect from August 2, 2023, for high capacity buses controlled by LAMATA, while the informal yellow buses will implement a 25% fare reduction.

Furthermore, more staff buses will be provided to ease commuting for state civil service workers.”
