Adamawa government relaxes curfew throughout the state

The Adamawa State Government has made changes to the 24-hour curfew imposed by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri in response to the upheaval that occurred on Sunday.

The curfew will now be in effect from 6 pm to 6 am, allowing free movement during daylight hours.

Governor Fintiri, after a security meeting with service commanders on Monday morning, assured the public that security agencies would maintain peace and handle anyone attempting to disrupt the state’s tranquility appropriately.

He urged the citizens to continue with their lawful activities, and the relaxation of the curfew from 6 pm to 6 am will be reviewed hourly.

The governor also mentioned that NEMA will provide a comprehensive report on the extent of damage caused to government and private facilities during the looting that took place in Yola on Sunday.

The unrest, characterized by vandalized offices and warehouses, was triggered by the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu, leading to increased fuel prices, and sarcastically referred to by some as “jobless youths helping themselves to their own share of palliative resources.”
