Two activists, Lai Brown and Shoddy Coker, were injured in an attack by suspected hoodlums in Lagos’ Alafia community, Agbado Oke-Odo Local Government Area.

Known for their vocal stance on societal issues in the community and Lagos at large, the activists often criticized the leadership of their Community Development Association (CDA) over its leadership style.

The incident occurred on July 22, 2023, when the hoodlums assaulted Coker with a bottle on the head while he and Brown were taking a stroll.

Brown was also punched in the mouth during the altercation. Both activists had resigned from the CDA after discovering irregularities and lack of democratic practices.

The matter was reported to the police but later withdrawn after community elders intervened for peace.
