Australia’s Catley admits Super Falcons’ counter attacks too good

Australian defender, Stephanie Catley, has lauded the Super Falcons team’s impressive style of play following their remarkable 3-2 win over The Matildas on Thursday.

Catley, who captained the Australian side in the absence of influential captain Sam Kerr, admitted that the nine-time African champions’ counter-attacks were devastating.

Despite dominating the game statistically with 26 attempts on goal compared to Nigeria’s 11, and having 15 corners to Nigeria’s two, Australia struggled to convert their chances.

The Super Falcons, on the other hand, were clinical in front of the goal, capitalizing on their limited opportunities.

Speaking after the match, Catley expressed her disappointment with their performance but acknowledged that such outcomes are common in tournament football.

She emphasized the need to move on quickly and focus on their upcoming match against Canada, as they must secure a win to advance to the next round of the competition.
