Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has taken significant steps to alleviate the adverse impact of petrol subsidy removal on civil servants and pensioners.
In an effort to provide relief, the governor has approved a monthly palliative of N10,000 for a duration of six months.
This measure aims to cushion the financial strain caused by the subsidy removal.
Governor Fintiri has demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of local government workers by implementing the national minimum wage, which will come into effect from August.
Additionally, the governor has shown concern for the food security of the residents by approving the procurement of 70 trucks of maize and 20 trucks of rice to be distributed at subsidized rates.
State civil servants will also benefit from subsidized fertilizers to support agricultural activities.
To address transportation challenges faced by workers, plans are underway to purchase shuttle buses for commuting between the state secretariat and local government areas.
