NLC gives nationwide strike notice over anti-poor policies

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government, demanding the reversal of perceived anti-poor policies, including the recent hike in petrol pump prices.

Failure to meet these demands will result in an indefinite nationwide strike starting from August 2.

According to Vanguard, the NLC has instructed its affiliates and state councils to initiate immediate mobilization efforts, rallying workers and other Nigerians, along with civil society allies, to support the strike and participate in mass protests if the government does not comply with their demands.

The decision was made during the NLC’s Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting held at Abuja Labour House on Tuesday, July 25.
