Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Dr. Ayodele Ajayi, the former Provost of Federal College of Education (FCE) Osiele, Abeokuta, along with his wife and driver.

The incident occurred around 7.17pm on July 25, 2023, at Ikija village in the Olodo area on the Abeokuta-Ibadan road, Odeda Local Government, Ogun state.

According to reports, Mrs. Ajayi was later released by the kidnappers, while they took the former provost and his driver.

The area has witnessed an increase in such criminal activities, with at least five people kidnapped in the past week alone.

The community is facing growing insecurity, and last month, three individuals, including a prominent businessman, were killed in the area.

Authorities, including the police and other security agencies, are actively pursuing the abductors.

However, the local community is calling for the government’s intervention and stronger action by security forces to ensure their safety.
