Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, is set to meet with President Bola Tinubu in a bid to prevent the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) from going ahead with their planned industrial action.

During a meeting with the national leadership of NARD, Abbas announced the formation of an ad hoc committee, chaired by House Leader Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, to address the issues raised by the doctors.

The committee will engage with all stakeholders involved in the matter.

Abbas urged the resident doctors to grant the House leadership a two-week period to find solutions to the problems at hand.

The doctors’ leadership, led by Dr. Innocent Orji, agreed to consider the Speaker’s appeal and communicate his position to their members.
