Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, revealed that the police in Yola, Adamawa State, have apprehended four individuals who planned to attack him.
The suspects reportedly confessed to plotting to plant bombs at the Modibbo Adama Central Mosque, Atiku’s residence, and the American University in Yola.
In a statement by his media aide, Atiku commended the police for their efforts and urged other security agencies to remain vigilant.
The PDP also issued a statement insisting that the foiled attack had the characteristics of a sponsored attempt on Atiku’s life, possibly linked to his bid to retrieve his mandate at the Presidential Election Petition Court.
The party urged the Inspector General of Police to track down the sponsors and bring them to justice for the sake of national security and unity.
