In a significant breakthrough, an 83-year-old former pastor was arrested in Pennsylvania for the cold case murder of an 8-year-old girl that occurred in 1975.
David Zandstra, known to the victim’s family, confessed to abducting and killing Gretchen Harrington while she was on her way to Bible camp.
He lured her into his green station wagon, took her to a secluded spot, and when she resisted, he beat her to death.
Weeks later, Gretchen’s skeletal remains were found in Ridley Creek State Park, miles away from her home.
The arrest came after investigators confronted Zandstra with sexual assault allegations made by another woman, who claimed he had groped her during a sleepover when she was 10 years old.
