The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) has expressed its strong support for the Federal Government’s recent initiative to establish the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.

President Bola Tinubu signed four Executive Orders that included significant fiscal policy measures such as the suspension of the five per cent excise tax on telecommunication services and locally manufactured vehicles’ excise duties.

Mr. Samuel Agbeluyi, the President of CITN, praised these initiatives, expressing optimism that the committee’s mandate would enhance revenue collection efficiency, foster transparency, cultivate a positive tax culture, and encourage voluntary compliance.

He emphasized the need for open dialogue and engagement with all stakeholders in the Nigerian tax system to ensure inclusive and meaningful reforms.
