NEMA alerts four Niger councils of impending flood

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Niger State has issued a warning to residents of Mokwa, Shiroro, Lavun, and Borgu Local Government Areas about the possibility of impending floods during the period from July to November.

Hajiya Zainab Sa’idu, the Head of NEMA’s Minna Operations Office, issued the alert based on the Annual Flood Outlook released by the Nigeria Hydrological Service Agency (NIHSA), which identified these areas as high flood-risk regions.

Other local government areas like Edati, Gbako, Wushishi, Rafi, Mashegu, Magama, and Agwara may also experience significant flooding during the same period.

Sa’idu urged residents to keep drainages clean and consider relocating from flood-prone areas to higher grounds to prevent loss of lives and property.
