PDP condemns federal government for N617 per litre fuel price

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) criticized the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government for the recent increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) or fuel from N534 to N617 per litre.

In a statement, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, described the new price as both provocative and extortionate, worsening the already dire economic situation under the APC’s leadership.

The party expressed concern over the government’s abandonment of its responsibility to ensure the welfare of Nigerians, highlighting the negative impact of the fuel price hike on the economy.

The PDP faulted the government’s justification for the increase, emphasizing that the new price regime is indefensible given the country’s infrastructural challenges and citizens’ low earning capacity.

The party maintained that with effective resource management and investment in refining capacity, fuel should not cost more than N150 per litre in Nigeria.
