Federal High Court in Abuja warns of arrest warrant for suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, due to his failure to appear in court regarding a $53 million judgment debt related to the Paris Club refund.
Justice Inyang Ekwo expressed restraint and granted another opportunity for Emefiele to explain himself on the next adjourned date.
Emefiele’s counsel explained that they were unable to reach him as he has been in detention since his suspension.
The court had previously ordered Emefiele’s appearance in January, but subsequent proceedings were delayed.
The matter has been adjourned to October 31 for the CBN and Emefiele to provide just cause to prevent an arrest warrant from being issued.
