The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has leveled accusations against Aishatu Ahmed, popularly known as Binani, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate in Adamawa State.
The PDP alleges that Binani sought protection for herself by approaching the Federal High Court in Abuja, in an attempt to halt the prosecution of Resident Electoral Commissioner Hudu Yunusa-Ari.
Idris Yahya, the Secretary of the Adamawa chapter of the PDP, addressed the press in Yola, urging President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the matter.
It was previously reported that Binani had filed a lawsuit to stop the prosecution of Yunusa-Ari by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Yahya stated that even before the involvement of the Adamawa Resident Electoral Commissioner, who failed in ensuring Binani’s victory in the governorship election, the PDP had repeatedly raised concerns about Binani’s desperation.
However, neither her party nor INEC showed any concern.
Yahya claimed that Binani’s recent attempt to halt Yunusa-Ari’s prosecution only reinforced her role as the main instigator in the attempted civilian coup led by the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner.
He accused Binani of trying to shield Yunusa-Ari to protect herself from potential indictment.
Yahya alleged that Binani had not faced prosecution for her own involvement due to powerful forces backing her.
He called on President Tinubu to intervene and resist Binani’s efforts to prevent the prosecution of her close ally in the failed coup attempt in Adamawa.
