The Imo State Police Command has apprehended 26 individuals suspected of being enforcers for an illegal sit-at-home order imposed by certain members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The command paraded 53 other suspects involved in various criminal activities, including conspiracy, armed robbery, murder, defilement, kidnapping, child trafficking, unlawful possession of firearms, car snatching, and vandalism of electrical cables.
According to the state police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, the sit-at-home enforcers were arrested following a confrontation with the police in Irete community along Onitsha Road, where they were unlawfully enforcing the sit-at-home order.
During the investigation into the activities of the other 53 suspects, the police seized a total of 32 assault guns, comprising two AK-47 rifles, 70 rounds of ammunition, and five vehicles that had been stolen but subsequently recovered.
