Google has announced the global expansion of its AI chatbot Bard, making it accessible in approximately 50 additional countries, including all 27 European Union (EU) nations and Brazil.
Bard serves as Google’s answer to Microsoft-backed ChatGPT and was initially unveiled in February.
However, its release in the EU was delayed due to the bloc’s plans to regulate artificial intelligence and address associated risks.
In an effort to ensure a responsible approach, Google actively engaged with experts, policymakers, and privacy regulators while expanding Bard’s availability.
The AI tool now supports over 40 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, German, Hindi, and Spanish.
Google has also introduced new features such as audio responses, customizable response styles, and the ability to analyze uploaded photos.
The EU is currently developing comprehensive rules for AI, including provisions for generative AI systems like ChatGPT and Dall-E.
