The Deputy-Director of Public Affairs at the state Ministry of Physical Planning released a statement announcing the collaboration.
The initiative involves the creation of a Certified Accreditor Programme, which comprises registered consultants including builders, architects, town planners, geoscientists, and engineers.
This programme enables the state to involve private sector professionals as stakeholders in regulating the built environment.
The Permanent Secretary emphasized that the Certified Accreditor Programme and the Certificate of Structural Integrity Programme were established based on recommendations to engage reliable private professionals in the regulatory process.
The government believes that the involvement of private professionals in building approval and regulatory processes will enhance efficiency and significantly reduce instances of building collapse.
The General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency called on professionals in the built environment to embrace the initiatives, emphasizing the benefits of broadening participation and safeguarding the integrity of the sector.
Other notable figures who spoke at the event expressed support for the initiatives and highlighted the advantages of instilling confidence in the system and promoting the sustainability of the built environment sector in Lagos State.
