Cristiano Ronaldo’s club, Al Nassr, has been penalized by FIFA due to a transfer issue concerning Nigerian national team captain, Ahmed Musa.
The Saudi Arabian club has been prohibited from registering new players for the upcoming Saudi Arabia Professional League season as they have failed to fulfill their payment obligations to Leicester City for Musa’s transfer.
Musa joined Al Nassr in 2018 following an impressive performance at the World Cup in Russia. While Al Nassr paid €16.50 million to Leicester City for Musa’s transfer, they have yet to settle the outstanding add-on payments, despite an order from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The CAS ruled that Al Nassr should pay €460,000 in performance-related add-ons to Leicester City.
Al Nassr’s failure to comply with the CAS decision has compelled FIFA to impose the ban on registering new players for the upcoming season.
