Lagos driver jailed for raping employer’s grand daughter

A 56-year-old driver, Folarin Rauf, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos State.

The conviction comes after Rauf was found guilty of defiling his employer’s five-year-old granddaughter.

The court handed down the sentence after determining that the prosecution had provided sufficient evidence to prove the charges of defilement.

The victim testified that Rauf had engaged in sexual intercourse with her multiple times, both in her grandfather’s living room and in a car on the premises.

The defendant denied the allegations but was ultimately found to be a “pathological liar” by the judge.

Justice Abiola Soladoye condemned Rauf’s actions and emphasized the importance of supervision and encouraging children to report instances of sexual abuse.

The court proceedings involved testimonies from witnesses, including the victim, her grandfather, and her mother.
