Family seeks justice as power drunk vigilantes shoot orphans in Abuja

The family of two brothers, Abdulmalik Abubakar and Ibrahim Abdullahi, are seeking justice after being shot by members of a vigilance group in the Bobota/Dabi Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.

The incident occurred while the brothers were sleeping in their room on Sunday, July 9, when the vigilance group invaded the premises and opened fire.

Both brothers sustained gunshot wounds to their legs and buttocks and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

In a video, Abdulmalik, one of the victims, expressed his refusal to surrender his phone as the reason behind the shooting.

The victims’ sister, Jemilah, called for justice and highlighted their financial inability to afford the medical expenses for their treatment.

The case has been reported to the Kwali Police Division, resulting in the arrest of one suspect. However, one of the alleged culprits denied involvement in the shooting.

When contacted, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer stated that she needed to confirm the information from the DPO (Divisional Police Officer).
