During the proceedings of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja, Senate Majority Leader Michael Bamidele stated that President Bola Tinubu faced no criminal charges in any United States court.
Serving as the sole witness, Bamidele clarified that the $460,000 forfeiture order against the President was related to a civil matter and could not be equated with criminal charges.
He emphasized that there had been no conviction or sentencing of Tinubu, which is a prerequisite for criminal charges to be brought.
Bamidele disclosed that the recorded results of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State indicated a shortfall of 10,292 votes for Tinubu.
The defence of President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and the APC was subsequently closed in response to a joint petition challenging their victory in the presidential election.
