Shell Nigeria appoints new MD of gas division

Shell has recently announced the appointment of Ralph Gbobo as the new Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Gas Limited, the company’s gas distribution division.

Effective from July 1, 2023, Ralph takes over the position from Ed Ubong, who has assumed a new role within the Shell group.

Prior to his appointment, Ralph served as the Manager for Commercial and Non-Operated Ventures at Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited, where he also represented Shell as a Shareholders Representative for seven onshore non-operated venture assets.

With his extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, Ralph brings valuable expertise to SNG, which operates as part of Shell Energy in Nigeria.

As the new Managing Director, Ralph will be responsible for leading SNG and driving the company’s domestic gas growth agenda in a safe and sustainable manner.

According to Markus Hector, the General Manager of Shell Energy Nigeria, Ralph’s appointment reflects his commitment to Shell’s core values and their mission to provide cleaner and more abundant energy to businesses in Nigeria.

Expressing his reaction to the appointment, Ralph expressed his humility and determination to foster innovation, sustainable growth, and shared value.

He emphasized the collaborative efforts needed to advance the domestic gas-to-energy value chain and support the economic development of Nigeria.

Throughout his 21-year career at Shell, Ralph has held various roles, ranging from crude and products supply and trading development in the downstream sector to positions in the upstream, including Commercial Manager for Crude Handling and Gas Integration Manager.
