Luis Enrique, the former coach of Barcelona and Spain, has been named the new coach of Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning French champions.

The announcement was made by the club on Wednesday. The 53-year-old, who has been without a team since his dismissal as the coach of Spain in December, takes over from Christophe Galtier following his departure from the club.

Enrique’s primary objective will be to guide PSG to victory in the UEFA Champions League, a prestigious title that has eluded the club’s Qatari owners since their acquisition.
