The Ekiti State Government has announced a ban on a proposed three-day kissing marathon aimed at setting a Guinness World Record in the state.
The event, organized by a group called Sugartee, was scheduled to take place on July 7 at a popular amusement park in Ado, the state capital.
However, in a letter addressed to the Ekiti State Hoteliers Association, the Ministry of Arts and Culture expressed concern that the event, known as ‘Kiss-a-thon,’ could tarnish the state’s reputation and go against its values.
The government threatened to take action against any facility that hosted the event.
The ban comes after recent cooking marathons held in the state, including a 120-hour marathon by Chef Dammy in Ilupeju-Ekiti and an ongoing attempt by Chef DEO in Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, to set a world record for the longest cooking marathon of 150 hours.
