A visually impaired man named Francis Ugachukwu has been remanded to the Kirikiri Correctional Centre by the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos State.

Ugachukwu is facing charges of defiling a 13-year-old girl in the state. Justice Abiola Soladoye ordered his remand pending the hearing and filing of his bail application.

The defendant, arraigned on one count of defilement, allegedly committed the offense in November 2022 at a residence in Abule-Osun, Ojoo, Lagos State.

The prosecution counsel informed the court that the offense contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Ugachukwu pleaded not guilty. The case has been adjourned until October 18 for the hearing of the bail application and the commencement of the trial.
