President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima have submitted evidence to support their claim that Peter Obi is not a registered member of the Labour Party (LP).
They presented a copy of the Labour Party membership register for Anambra State as evidence to the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).
Tinubu and Shettima, who are defending themselves against the petition filed by Obi and the Labour Party challenging their victory in the presidential election, argued that Obi was ineligible to contest the election under the LP since he was not a party member during the poll.
Their legal representative, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), presented the membership register and a letter from the Labour Party as supporting documents.
Tinubu and Shettima claimed that Obi had resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on May 26, 2022, and joined the Labour Party on May 27, 2022.
However, objections were raised by Obi’s counsel, Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), but the court admitted the documents as evidence.
