The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) has taken steps to address the issue of limited access to clean water in the Ewutuntun and Mafoluku communities of Lagos by inaugurating borehole projects in two schools within these areas.
In addition to the boreholes, NAHCO also provided power-generating sets to ensure the proper functioning of the water supply.
The first project, situated at State Primary School, Ewutuntun, will cater to the needs of not only the school but also Community Primary School, Ewu, and State Primary School, Mafoluku.
The second borehole project, located at Ewu Primary School, Ewutuntun, will benefit Methodist Primary School, Ewutuntun as well.
Mr. Indranil Gupta, the Group Managing Director/CEO of NAHCO, emphasized that these projects were designed to address the hygienic water challenges faced by the students, while also highlighting the company’s commitment to supporting the government through its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
The provision of these boreholes is expected to positively impact school enrollment and retention, as children will no longer need to leave the premises in search of water.
The efforts of NAHCO were appreciated by local authorities and former educators who expressed gratitude for alleviating the hardship faced by the schools due to the lack of water supply.
