Stock investors kicked off the second half of the year on a positive note, as they accumulated gains of N533 billion on the first trading day.
The All-Share Index rose by 1.61%, closing at 61,949.24 index points, while the market capitalization increased by N53 billion to reach N33.731 trillion.
JAPAULGOLD, ETERNA, and MEYER led the gainers’ list, each rising by 10%, followed by UPL and LINKASSURE.
On the other hand, TRIPPLEG, CORNEST, and NSLTECH were among the top losers. Despite challenges like rising inflation and global uncertainty, investors have gained N5.3 trillion in the first half of the year.
The market’s positive momentum can be attributed to macroeconomic reforms and increased buying interest from investors.
The NGX All Share Index reached a 15-year high, crossing 60,000 index points.
