INEC closes defence in Peter Obi and Labour Party’s petition

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concluded its defence before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) after the testimony of Dr. Lawrence Bayode, a Deputy Director in the ICT Department.

Supporting documents were presented as evidence. Bayode clarified that blurred documents in the IREV (INEC Result Viewing Portal) did not impact the physical results recorded in unblurred Forms EC8As.

He emphasized that the images of Forms EC8A transmitted through BVAS (Biometric Voter Accreditation System) to IREV were not relevant for result collation.

The glitch encountered during the previous presidential election did not affect the result collation process.

The defence by President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima’s lawyer is expected to commence the following day.
