A Magistrate’s Court in Yaba, Lagos State, has directed the remand of Smart Norbert for his alleged involvement in a burglary incident where valuables worth N3.9 million were stolen from Aboson Omolara in the Ikoyi area of the state.
The 25-year-old suspect was remanded by Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun on charges related to burglary, theft, and use of a harmful object.
According to the prosecutor, Rita Momoh, the defendant, along with an accomplice who is still at large, committed the crime on June 16, 2023, at a residence in Park View Estate, Ikoyi.
The charges leveled against Norbert contravene Sections 411, 307 (a) (b) (c), and 297 (1)(2) (a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
The court heard that Norbert and his accomplice intentionally broke into the specified address and stole various items, including mobile phones, jewelry, a wedding ring, wristwatches, and an ATM card, all valued at N3.9 million.
Norbert did not enter a plea, and the Magistrate ordered his remand in the Ikoyi Correctional Centre until the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) provides legal advice.
The case was adjourned until July 27, 2023, for the DPP’s advice.
