During a violent clash in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, two suspected cult members were reportedly killed.
The incident occurred around 11 am at Ukwuoji Bus Stop along Zik’s Avenue. According to witnesses, a group of cultists stormed the area, firing shots into the air.
In response, their rivals fought back while terrified residents fled for safety.
An anonymous eyewitness revealed that the hoodlums, numbering about five, arrived in a car with tinted glass, carried out the shooting, and escaped afterward.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the shootings but did not confirm any deaths.
He stated that the incident appeared to be cult-related and that the police were intensifying patrols in Awka.
In a separate incident, armed robbers attacked the residence of Alhaji Gidado Muhammad Sani, injuring a security guard.
The police engaged the robbers in a gunfight, resulting in the neutralization of one robber and the arrest of three others, while six suspects managed to escape.
