Otti submits list of commissioner nominees to Abia lawmakers for screening

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has submitted a list of 19 Commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and necessary action.

Among the nominees, six have been serving as his Special Advisers, and five of them are female.

The names on the list include individuals such as Prof. Monica Ironkwe, Kingsley Anoribe, Prof. Eme Uche, Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, Mike Akpara, Ngozi Okoronkwo, Okey Kanu, Ikechukwu Uwaoma, and Chaka Chukwumerije, among others.

Governor Otti has issued an immediate suspension of the State Head of Service and all Permanent Secretaries, with the exception of the Clerk of the State House of Assembly and the Solicitor-General.

The Governor has also appointed Lady Joy Maduka, the Director of the Ministry of Education, as the Acting Head of Service.

According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Kazie Uko, the suspension of the Head of Service and Permanent Secretaries was a result of the establishment of a Judicial Panel of Inquiry for the recovery of Abia State Government’s properties and funds.

The affected Permanent Secretaries have been instructed to hand over their responsibilities to the most senior Directors in their respective departments.
