Osun government initiates enrolment of pensioners in health insurance scheme

The government of Osun State has disclosed its plans to incorporate contributory pensioners into the state’s health insurance scheme.

Governor Ademola Adeleke issued a directive for the immediate payment of pension entitlements as outlined in the earlier released template for 2023.

During a meeting with state leaders on Friday, Governor Adeleke acknowledged the representations made by pensioners and reaffirmed his commitment to addressing their concerns in line with his campaign promises.

The governor emphasized that the template for clearing outstanding salaries and pensions remains in effect, instructing the Head of Service to expedite its implementation by ensuring the payment of pension arrears.

Governor Adeleke emphasized that the phased payments reflect the state’s financial situation and reiterated his administration’s dedication to the welfare of workers and pensioners.

Furthermore, Governor Adeleke revealed plans to enroll pensioners in the state health insurance scheme to cater to their healthcare needs.

Recognizing the importance of consistent healthcare for senior citizens, the governor explained that enrolling them in the scheme would alleviate the financial burden of medical treatment during retirement.

The administration is currently finalizing the details of this plan and will release it for immediate implementation.
