Falana calls on DSS to speed up investigation into Emefiele and Bawa cases

Prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to expedite their investigation into the cases involving Abdulrasheed Bawa, the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Emefiele was arrested on charges related to terrorism financing on June 10 by DSS officials, while Bawa was arrested over allegations of abuse of office.

During an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today program, Falana emphasized the importance of adhering to legal procedures and avoiding delays in the investigation process.

He highlighted that the Nigerian government should handle these cases in accordance with the law to prevent potential loopholes from being exploited.

Falana further stated that if the appropriate legal requirements for detention are not met, Emefiele and Bawa should be granted bail.
