Dilano van ‘t Hoff, an 18-year-old racing driver from the Netherlands, has lost his life following a crash in a Formula Regional European Championship race.
The incident occurred during the second race at Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps circuit, the same track where French driver Anthoine Hubert tragically died in a Formula 2 race back in 2019.
The organisers expressed their deepest condolences to van ‘t Hoff’s family, team, and friends, while various motorsport organizations, including the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium and the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, joined Alpine, ACI, and SRO Motorsports Group in offering their sympathies.
The 24 Hours of Spa race also paid tribute to the young driver, canceling start line entertainments and observing a minute’s silence.
Formula 1 chief Stefano Domenicali and McLaren Racing also expressed their sadness and condolences for the tragic loss.
