The management of Lekki Deep Sea Port has announced the arrival of CMA CGM RIMBAUD, marking the first transshipment vessel to call at the container terminal of the port.
This news was shared by Du Ruogang, the Managing Director of Lekki Port. The vessel arrived on June 29 at approximately 1:00 p.m., carrying cargo from two major container shipping lines, CMA CGM and Maersk.
The journey of the vessel originated from the Far East, passing through various ports before finally reaching Lekki Port.
It is loaded with 411 Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (TEUs) of transshipment cargo and has a container handling capacity of 6,900 TEUs.
Ruogang expressed gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Transportation and the Nigerian Ports Authority for their support in enabling transshipment activities at Lekki Port.
Laurence Smith, the Chief Operating Officer of Lekki Port, highlighted the collaboration between regulatory agencies, Lekki Port, and the container terminal operator to ensure a smooth arrival and cargo processing.
