Unlawful soldiers shoot Ogun driver for parking near company

Bolaji Sunday, a commercial driver, has been hospitalized after allegedly being shot by two unidentified soldiers.

The incident occurred when Sunday parked his vehicle in front of the Oriental Transport Company in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

He had gone to the location to meet someone who was supposed to connect him with a potential customer.

As Sunday parked his vehicle, he was confronted by the soldiers who were guarding the area. The soldiers demanded the key to his vehicle and ordered him to sit in a gutter.

Sunday attempted to explain his reason for parking there, but the soldiers became aggressive. Failing to comply with their orders, the soldiers shot two of his vehicle’s tires.

In a desperate attempt to save his life, Sunday started running, but he was allegedly shot in the back by one of the soldiers.

Sunday, now in the hospital, described the brutal incident and the injuries he sustained. He recounted how the soldiers beat him, broke his windshield, and shot his tires.

His wife, Oluwatosin, expressed sadness and criticized the soldiers for their actions.

Eyewitnesses at the scene confirmed the soldiers’ presence and speculated that they were guarding a nearby company.

One witness suggested that Sunday should have avoided arguing with the soldiers to prevent further conflict.

The state Police Public Relations Officer assured that efforts were being made to apprehend the soldier responsible for the shooting.

However, the spokesperson for the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army could not provide immediate information on the case.
